Farewell To A Friend

SpiDer lived with his wife, Vicki, and cat, Teac, in Mussey Grade Village (MGV) trailer park, located about midway down Mussey grade Road. Around 3 am Sunday morning, October 26, SpiDer and Vicki realized MGV was very likely in the path of the fire, so they took Teac to SpiDer’s music studio at the edge of town where he would be safe. By the time they returned, the sheriff had closed Mussey Grade off to all incoming traffic. Soon thereafter, a friend called to tell SpiDer his studio was on the news…it was on fire. He immediately called the California Department of Forestry (CDF) and pleaded with them to send a firefighter to kick the door open and give his cat a chance to survive. Even though the CDF had trucks parked just up the hill from the studio (protecting a high end housing development), they refused. Days later SpiDer found the remains of his cat outside the studio, near where a side panel had been blown out by the impact of the fire.
