Ground Zero May 8, 2002 This steel beam was the last piece of the World Trade Center to be removed from Ground Zero. The beam stood like a tombstone over the largest mass grave in the United States, with spray-painted death tolls identifying the number of rescue personnel lost by the New York Fire Department, the Port Authority Police Department and other agencies. |
